Help for grown-ups

How to start

Count the shells, choose the matching number, then tap OK. Later, combine two groups, follow a shell joining or leaving, or find a missing part of a total.

What your child practices

Connecting quantities with numbers, adding small groups, and reasoning about a whole and its missing part.

Make it easier or try a challenge

A gentler start

Use Count the shells with one to three shells. Point to each shell once and match it with the dots in the choices.

A little more thinking

For a missing-part task, predict what must join the visible group. Check your idea by building both parts with objects.

These are ways to support or extend play together. Your child can point, act, or explain; saying the answer aloud is optional.

Little hints & worksheet answers

Which shells can you already see? What part is still needed to make the whole?

For a worksheet, match its picture and age before opening a hint or answer.

Try it away from the screen

Set out five socks. Split them into groups of two and three, then join them. Keep one group visible and ask your child to find the missing part.
