Fill the gap

Bring the adventure along

One adventure

Try the waterworks on screen, then explore the same idea together.

Play with Kova in your browser. For an activity away from the screen, draw a line and cover it with crayons of different lengths. Try another combination that fills the same line.

Ages are a starting point. Individual activities may have a different age guide from the adventure.

How to start

Kova’s waterway is missing a piece. Choose a wooden piece from the tray, then tap the gap to put it in. The marks show equal steps. When the waterway is ready, tap the green check.

What your child practices

Comparing whole lengths and building one length out of parts. Later levels repair a waterway that is already half finished.

Make it easier or try a challenge

A gentler start

Start on level one, where a single piece fills the gap. Hold the piece beside the gap and ask: too short, too long, or just right?

A little more thinking

On level two, find a different pair of pieces that also fills the gap. More than one answer is right.

These are ways to support or extend play together. Your child can point, act, or explain; saying the answer aloud is optional.

Try it away from the screen

Draw a line and ask your child to cover it exactly with two or three crayons of different lengths. Then find another pair that fills the same line.
