How to start
Watch the examples, then use the pictured picnic to answer the question. Choose how many belong on each mat, which picnic is equal, or which mat needs one more, then tap OK.
What your child practices
Equal sharing, comparing groups, and distinguishing the number of pairs from the number of individual objects.
Make it easier or try a challenge
A gentler start
Start with sharing between two mats. Use matching large objects beside the screen to give one to each mat in turn.
A little more thinking
Predict an equal share between three mats, then check by dealing objects. Show how the number on each mat differs from the total.
These are ways to support or extend play together. Your child can point, act, or explain; saying the answer aloud is optional.
Little hints & worksheet answers
If every mat gets one in turn, what happens when you go around again?
For a worksheet, match its picture and age before opening a hint or answer.
Open worksheet answersTry it away from the screen
Put six large blocks between two plates. Share one at a time and compare the plates. Gather the same six blocks and try sharing them among three plates.
